China Lighting Import and Export Data 2010

July 28, 2021
In 2010, the export value of lighting electrical products was 18.57 billion U.S. dollars and the import volume was 3.36 billion U.S. dollars, both of which set a record high. The following analysis on the import and export of several major products to help companies understand the international market.

First, export

In 2010 and 2009, the export of lighting electrical products increased by 31.7%. In 2009, due to the impact of the financial crisis, compared with 2008, the sharp increase in 2010 was related to the low base in 2009.

Among the electric light source products, the export growth rates include: compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), halogen lamps, incandescent lamps, and the export volume increased by 37.3%, 29.3%, and 14.1% year-on-year respectively. The volume of CFL exports exceeded 3 billion for the first time. The top 20 exporting countries accounted for 70% of the total exports, of which nearly 500 million were exported to the United States, which is close to the highest record in history. Another notable country is Brazil, which actually imported 270 million CFLs in 2010. The above data shows that the demand for energy-saving light sources in various countries around the world is strong during the post-financial crisis.

Among the electric light source products, the large increases in the export of halogen lamps and incandescent lamps, respectively, are worthy of attention. Since 2007, when the global proposed "phasing out incandescent lamps," all developed countries and regions in the world have proposed plans to phase out incandescent lamps. Some halogen lamps are also included in the phase-out plan, but in 2010, China exported 930 million halogen lamps and 2.77 billion incandescent lamps, which were 29.3% and 14.1% higher than 2009 respectively. The top ten countries and regions in which halogen lamps are exported are: France, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, Hong Kong, Russia, the Netherlands, Brazil, and India. It can be seen that most of them are in Europe and the United States. Hong Kong and Hong Kong are basically re-exported. These countries. The top ten countries and regions for the export of incandescent lamps are: the United States, Brazil, Nigeria, Canada, South Africa, Turkey, Mexico, Jordan, Japan, and France. It can be seen that the demand in Europe is relatively reduced, while the Americas (including North America and China) South America, Africa, and the Middle East still have greater demand. Take the United States as an example. In 2010, 820 million incandescent lamps were imported from China. Therefore, "phasing out incandescent lamps" can be described as a long way to go.

In 2010, the export of LED lighting products has seen a significant increase in LED products. The main products are LED bulbs, MR16, PAR lamps, etc. Since the customs does not specifically list the tariff numbers, it is estimated that the export volume will be around US$1 billion. Product exports will show an increasing trend year by year. Other lighting electrical product exports such as lamps, Christmas lights, etc. did not change significantly.

Second, imports

In 2010, the import value of lighting electrical products also showed a significant increase. In 2010, the import value was 3.36 billion US dollars, an increase of 40% from the 2.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2009. The major increase was in automotive lamp products, including vehicle halogens. Tungsten lamps and automotive lighting devices, the other is the HID lamp arc tube and various types of light sources and lighting parts.
